The key on the computer is for the operating system installed on the computer, You should have a disk for Office with the key on the holder.

The sticker on the bottom of your laptop is either the sticker for Windows XP or Windows Vista (whatever operating system you are using). When you purchased your laptop it would of come with a 60 day trial for Microsoft Office, at the end of the 60 days you will have to enter a product key activating your subscription or end your trial period with Microsoft Office. If you have allready purchased the product, you would of gotten a little brochure, in that brochure is a credit card shaped card. It contains your product key for Office

That is the XP/Vista product key.
The office key came with MS Office. If it came installed on your computer then you only got the 60 day trial version.
You will have to purchase Office if you want to use it.
You could try this for free:http://www.openoffice.org

Product Key on the Bottom of your laptop is for Windows ONLY
The verison of Office that you have is the 60 day trial unless you “upgraded” from MS Works (which usually comes standard) to MS Office Student Edition or higher.

Microsoft office and a Microsoft OS (XP and Vista are OS’s) are different peices of software made by Microsoft, just like Photoshop and Flash, one key won’t work on both because they are different peices of software.

  7. Jeff C says:

The product key on the bottom of your laptop is most likely for windows (xp or vista). The product key for Office should be located on the cd sleeve that came with your computer.
