The Flintstone Vitamins even if you take 2, don’t give you enough vitamin support for adults….much less for an adult and growing child. In your case, I would highly recommend talking to your doctor and seeing if there is any brand that he would recommend you buying over the counter. Let him know about the brand that you WERE taking from GNC, maybe even bring the bottle if you still have it so he can take a look at it…sometimes doctors can see what is making you sick by reading the labels better than you can. Then I would go with what he recommends. Congratulations on your pregnancy!!!

its very much normal. try taking them before you go to sleep but be sure you eat something with it or just take half. my prenatals used to make me sick also but i just started taking a half of one and it helped me out alot.

Try different brands. I took one that gave me the most awful heartburn then I realized it started when I started that vitamin, I then switched & the heartburn disappeared.

  • HearKat says:

You don’t mention whether you are taking them on an empty stomach… which can be irritating to anyone

  • Brandi M. says:

a lot of women cant tolerate them. its ok to take 2 flintstone vits every day

  • Shawna says:

take two flinstones vitamins thats what my dr told me to do and a folic supplement which you’re already taking already- they go down alot easier and taste a whole lot better

  • Playmate says:

try taking two flintstone vitamins a day to substitute …or just make sure you eat a nice full meal but take it in between

I would talk to your doctor, I was switched a few times and finally was put on one that you take twice a day called PrimaCare.

I’m on prenatal vitamins I got from Walmart. They require two pills once a day. After I eat breakfast, I take one with a glass of water. After I eat dinner, I take the other with a glass of water. This seems to help abate any sickness I would have gotten if I took them both at once.

What prescription prenatal does he/she have you taking? My doctor tried SEVERAL of them before we found one I can take without getting sick…Cenogen Ultra. I still have to make sure I eat something when I take it, just to be on the safe side, but it’s never made me sick.
Now, since you are taking a separate folic acid supplement, you could also take an easy iron supplement and a calcium supplement as well…but there are other things that your body needs, and that would be a lot of pills to take.
I would talk to your doctor about different prescription prenatals, and if all else fails, ask if you can try Flintstones Complete…they worked well for me the first go-round!

I use to stick my prenantal in yogurt or ice cream so i couldn’t taste it. Ice cream is great for nausea too bc it coaghts your stomach with fat.
prescription prenatals are the best they aren’t missing anything and have some added stuff for your body type.
    Congrats on becoming a mom!

Make sure you are eating healthy plenty of fruits and vegtables of varied colors to get all the nutrients. It is possible that you can’t handle the iron in the prenatal vitalmins and that’s what is making you sick.

You can just take the folic acid tablets along with children’s chewable vitamins. That’s what my ob/gyn suggested, I had severe all day sickness while pg with both children, even worse while pg with my daughter.

  • sharkyin says:

My doc said in the first trimester that it is okay to just take the folic acid, that is the most important thing for baby’s development in that period.
For the 2nd & 3rd trimester, I took a regular prenatal vitamin, but I took it on a full stomach.
It is the iron that makes you feel nauseaus.

  • Mandy S says:

I get sick with mine to. but I found as long as i eat something small before I take it and then again something after I take it I seem to be fine. Good luck!

  • amber s says:

what you can do is stop taking the prenatal vitamins and go get the Flinstones vitamins they work just the same and wont make you sick. I’ve had alot of friends with the same problem and the took the flinstone vitamins and their babies turned out to be just as healthy as can be..

  • VW Girl :o) says:

continue taking the folic acid. that’s the most important ingredient in prenatal vitamins. more than likely it’s the iron that is making you sick. try to find a vitamin without iron or with a much lower dose. that should help.
