Lab Paste by Paul Mictchell (£10.65) is fab. If you need extra hold use Lab XTG glue (£9.99) also by Paul Mitchell. You can buy it from all good hairdressers or online. Just google Paul mitchell.

Clay … hair clay. It can be a bit expensive but it’s great stuff. There’s also hair putty, but for what you’re describing I’d say clay is what you want.

    Mousse.
    white rain
    and I have one called
Professional Care. Styling Mousse Salon Formula
found at wal- mart and Walgreen’s….
Mousse conditions hair and controls dryness.
    It styles real nice also..

Any pomade should do the job–avoid gels which eventually dry and flake; it ends up looking like dandruff.
A good one I used on one of my friends was got2b: shagged out. This is a “texturizing liquid fiber” that has a viscous texture. It’s basically like a pomade but provides a bit more hold–its very good for the messy/spiky look. It’s available at most drug stores.

I have very fine, fly-away hair and have always had a problem with finding products to do what I want. I discovered Aussie Freeze Spray about six months ago and swear by it.
