The 1911 is a very old pistol design, it’s been around for a very long time. It is tried and has proven itself and the design has changed very little over time. Aside from a few adjustments here and there, it’s the same as it was so long ago.
Why is it that on average, 1911 pistols are quite a bit more expensive than other popular pistols? A 1911 from Kimber, Springfield Armory, S&W, SIG, Colt, etc. etc. are almost always over $1000 new.
You can get a brand new Beretta 92/96, Ruger P89, Smith and Wesson metal frame like 4006, CZ75, Glock, and quite a few other models for pretty much 1/2 the price of many of the popular 1911 company models.
What is it that makes the 1911 so much more expensive to produce than so many of these others?

Inexpensive Curling Irons Vs Expensive??
Sunday, November 22nd, 2009I paid around $10 for my curling irons that I am currently using. Ater curling a few sections of hair, I find that they cool off, so I have to wait a minute or so for them to reheat.
I am thinking I should invest in a better/professional curl to solve this problem. Perhaps one that heats to a higher temperature? Does it make a big difference? If so, what brand is best and how much should I expect to pay?
