I’ve mostly worked in companies that had a separate marketing and art department- I am a graphic designer. Usually the marketing department will tell the art department what is needed, and the art department implements it. I have worked at my company for the last 2 1/2 years in the art department only.
I’m interviewing for a marketing coordinator/graphic designer position. The lady I will be interviewing with expressed concern that although I have extensive art experience, that she’s worried about the “marketing” part. A few years ago I worked in a company directly under a Marketing Director, and he and I would come up with promotional ideas and body copy together, and I would design it. I also recommended promotion ideas. I have also worked as a freelance designer for small businesses who needed branding- I came up with the company look and offered suggestions on how to promote.
Can these skills apply to a marketing coordinator position for qualifications? I’m an “idea” person.

My Mom’s Birthday is coming up, and I was wondering on what to get her as a gift. I decided to get her a Designer Handbag to surprise her, however there is only one problem – WHAT TO GET HER ?
Being 13 Years old, I was not quite sure on what BRAND to get her.
At first, (Since I am a Malaysian) I decided to get her a Jimmy Choo bag (because he is Malaysian) but I was not quite sure that it would fit her personality and style. Then I wanted to go for a Louis Vuitton with that LV pattern of his. Would that make a good Birthday Present ? Or should I go for a Prada or a Gucci ? What about an Armani, or is it more for Men ? A Christian Dior ?
I’M CONFUSED, AND NOT QUITE SURE WHAT BRAND TO GET HER, PLS GIVE ME SOME RECCOMENDATIONS OF BRANDS AND DESIGNS.

How To Become A Good Designer And Found My Own Brand?

I graduated from the university last year, and i got my bachelor degree of art at the same time. I like graphic design, web design, and so on. I wanna become a good designer, have my own studio, and then found my own brand. But, it’s a little hard to do this in China, I have the design talent, nevertheless, I don’t know what I should do first? For example, how to find a company to develop the brand? Or, I should do this by myself? I knew many little brands in the western country, they can get a very good sale. How to make like this?

How Authentic Are The Names Of Famous Designer Companies?
Friday, November 27th, 2009Every designer/brand name has a marketing team, right? so what i wanna know is, just how authentic are so called “name brands” and how authentic is the name of the designer? i just find it hard to accept that any kind of name can make it to a “designer name,” there must be a certain degree of thought that goes into what exactly makes one name more marketable than another. NOTE: i do NOT mean based on the quality of the goods, i am talking specifically about the NAME OF THE COMPANY/DESIGNER itself!! (some of those names just sound too good to be real…:-))
Should I Hire A Web Designer Just To Personalize A Pre-made Web Template Or Have An Entire Site Designed?
Friday, November 20th, 2009I’m starting a brand new business and would like to keep the start up costs low.I have no experience with website design.I love some of the pre made templates that I’ve come across that range around $50-70, however I don’t have the time or experience even to work with these.
Any helpful suggestions as to whether I should hire an affordable web designer(some online “start at” $199.) or try to just go with a pre made template…..???
So I’m not sure how I should proceed.Any suggestions would be very much appreciated…THANKS!!!!
