Are ‘brands’ Or ‘branding’ A Luxury Experience?

Tuesday, February 23rd, 2010

Nike, is rubber and cloth. The added demand and cost is from a image. Heinz is tomatoes and salt. A Saturn is some metal, rubber, glass.
How much are prices inflated from ? If things got bad, how much would Nike be just something to put on your feet? How much added ‘inflation-worth’ do we have invested in the marketplace?
Is it a ‘luxury’ of having ‘disposable income’?
Would this ever collapse like the inflated housing market? Or the dot-com sense of worth? When quality was not as much of a consideration as quantity?

Thursday, December 10th, 2009

I’m a huge dork and have a marketing library at home is almost shameful in both size and girth. (Really happy about being able to use the word “girth” in a sentence.)
But branding books would you recommend? I’ve read most of Seth Godin, Tom Peters, Paul Arden etc. I’m reading “Words ” right now and “Hoopla” after . Any suggestions?

Can Anyone Give Me Opinions On My Corporate Branding?

Thursday, October 1st, 2009

Hello,
I’m in the process of establishing a software-based research firm whose target market mainly consists of corporate clients. I’m having a design company create my corporate branding and identity. The initial concepts are of the letterhead and business card. There are elements I like of with all.
*Set 1: I like the 1st in it adds an accent color to my image. Between my logo and current colors of my site, it’s heavily blue and heavily gray. So, I think the goldish color adds a unique touch can make me more easily identifiable. BUT, I’m unsure if it’s too bold? Will it take away from my professional image w/ corporate clients?
*Set 2: This set seems more traditional and corporate-friendly. It incorporates my grays well and such, and seems to be a safer bet.
*Set 3: This is a very clean, minimalist look also seems to be a safe bet.
I’m no marketing or art expert, so can shed some opinions? Also, feel free to give ideas on how to improve upon these.
Thanks!
