Any heat styling causes *slight* damage to the hair, but if done correctly, damage is very minimal. Using a good flat iron like Andis and a heat protectant serum is a great step in the right direction. Here are a few more tips:
    1. Use your iron at the lowest possible setting that will still give you the results you want. (Most people who damage their hair from flat irons crank the temperature up to the hottest setting, which is often too hot for their hair type.) Start at a lower temperature and work your way slowly to one that works for you.
    2. Section the hair you are working on into small, manageable sections. Trying to put too much hair into the flat iron results in the hair not straightening properly, which will make you want to turn the heat up higher.
    3. Don’t clamp the flat iron on your hair for too long. If you have followed the first two steps, you should be able to just glide the iron through your hair once or twice on each section in one smooth motion, as if you were brushing it (if hair is really long, glide through root to about midpoint, remove iron, then glide through mid to ends.)
Hope this helps! Also remember to only iron DRY hair, unless your flat iron is a damp to dry model.

Yes it will some. That is inevitable. Just continue to use thermal protectors and use a good shampoo and conditioner and you will be doing about all you can.

I found that using a leave in conditioner right after the shower (in addition to a heat protector) works very well. I haven’t gotten split ends and it’s been working really well. Just don’t use too much because then your hair will end up looking greasy.

any heat on ur hair will damage it to an extent…
    however…
if you are using the right products it can help minimise any damage…
    1) do keep conditioning treatments – it helps add moisture and repair hair damage
    2) use a leave in conditioner – it helps detangle and add moisture
    3) use defrizz cream or serum b4 blowdrying – altho where possible allow hair to dry naturally or wait until its around 70% dry b4 using the hairdryer.
    4) use thermal protection spray when using straighteners and after use a serum or defrizz cream to help prevent hair from frizzing up.
alot of ppl think tht high temps on ur hair will really damage ur hair – and as previously said, ANY heat on ur hair will damage it…but high temp straighteners help minimise damage due to the fact tht you onli need to go over ur hair once or twice to get it straight meaning less damage.
me personally, i have bleached highlights in my hair and i use GHD’s on my hair most days and yet my hairs in better condition then most ppl’s/
