LOL, I just went threw this,. My son has been on the Emphimal from day one. Well he’s eating more and its getting expensive so I bought some Generic stuff from Sam’s Club for half the price and its suppose to be just like Emphimal. (yellow can) So i switched my son to that.
Oh no he hated it !!! he started getting fussy and I didn’t no why, and now he’s spitting it up.
So much for that, back to the expensive stuff.
It has the same stuff but I think it might just taste different
OK. The following holds true for both things like formula and also medications:
It is true that all formulas must meet regulations set by the FDA; however, within those regulations there are brackets, and name brand meds and formulas and other items may vary in the EXACT percentages of certain items within their product less than store brands do. So, for instance, if a patient is put on a medication for lowering blood sugars, the name brand MAY be more consistent because the name brands are held to a slightly higher standard regarding their EXACT mixture of ingredients. The same goes for formula. That being said, it’s not dangerous, or negligent to give your baby store brand, it’s more about what works with your particular child. It sometimes helps to ease your mind, though, if you know what the difference is between the two and why they are priced differently in the first place. Primarily it’s because of the cost to use the brand’s logo, when the product is almost exactly the same.
My first child was under lipil like yours I never changed her milk cause I didn’t want her growing to be somewhat affected.. I know that all the milk is the same but babies know what they want and i guess if they try the first milk you give and try to change it they wouldn’t like it. and LIPIL is good too cause it’s for the brain development and has alot of nutrients… So stick with lipil cause similac is too expensive and it has less what lipil has
Hello I just recently switched my sons formula from goodstart to parents choice gentle. Goodstart was very rough and cased my son alot of gas and constipation but since switching to the parents choice gentle He is less fussy and his constipation is completely gone! BTW Parents Choice is Walmart brand and cost about ten dollars less then other more expensive brands, yet contains all the same ingrediants!
I was really big on using the name brands. But about 2 months ago I watched a tv report that said all formula is made the same way and has to follow FDA guidelines. So They are all the same. But the name brands and more expensive stuff might have fancier labels or more ingredients. Like DHA/ARA, but I have found store brand ones are now also coming out with that. So basically no difference. They all have to follow the health guidelines
My son was started on Emfamil A+ in the hospital(while trying unsuccessfully to breastfeed) and we continued using that until he was a month. Then I noticed the Walmart brand Parent’s Choice. I compared the labels and the ingredients were basically the same…for half the price.
SO we switched. My son loves it, he’s now 6 months old…started out at 5 pounds, he’s now 19.
The only complaint I would have about it is the Walmart here sells out so fast(because I live in the pregnancy capitol of British Columbia.) so a couple times I have had to buy Enfamil again.
I have complaints about Emfamil though…Aside from the horrific cost, there are too many bubbles when mixed…Parents Choice has none.
We were using infamil lipil with iron and found out that Target makes a store brand that has exactly the same stuff in it. We gradually switched over and he has gained weight exactly the same as on the expensive stuff. Just switch over gradually and you should be fine.
I use store brand. I compared the ingredients on the name brand and they are EXACTLY the same!!! The wal mart brand “parent’s choice” is good….or the target brand is good, i use both. If your baby likes it…go for it! It has dha/ara just like the other ones…you are just paying for the name! my baby actually spits up less on the store brand!
my son takes enfamil normally cuz we get wic but sometimes i run out and buy the store brand kind instead. the only problem ive noticed is it seems to be more watery so it doesnt fill him up as much. but thats about it.
Store brands are just as well as the name brands. Test your baby out on it and if she/he likes it and dosent seem to have any sort of negative reaction to it….go with it.
I used similac,soy formula,good start.
all theses constipated my son or made him spit up.
now he uses parents choice and not once has he had a problem!:)
im all about store brand formula:)
When my daughter went ot all formula at nine months we used the walmart brand with no problems.
